Forests Without frontiers

Central to MWF is the interconnection between cultural and ecological ecosystems, using music and arts to raise awareness and funds for social and environmental causes. Our sister project, Forests Without Frontiers came to life after Nico recorded traditional musicians in the Carpathian mountains. She was moved by their accounts of deforestation, and decided to donate the money from the album sales to plant trees in the area, and to support and give voice to elders in the community.

Environmental preservation is intrinsically linked with the protection of ancient traditions, instruments and folk songs. If we lose the forests, we lose the communities that live in them, and their culture is dispersed. We need to protect both, as these people are the guardians of the forests and they have so much to teach us and pass on to the future generations.
— NICO DE TRANSILVANIA

MWF releases will help to raise funds for reforestation and rewilding projects in Romania and around the world, turning music into trees. MWF is also committed to social causes, Nico having performed at several fundraising parties including in support of refugees at Enthem House.
